The Planning Process

There are many threats and haxards that can impact the City of Jacksonville. Some of the hazards such as hurricanes, severe weather, tornadoes, are predictable to a certain degree. You may have hours or days to complete last minute preparations. Unfortunately, there are also many hazards such as fire or chemical explosions that are less unpredictable, leaving you with no time to prepare.

The Emergency Preparedness Division uses an all-hazards approach to writing plans and encourages you to do the same. Many of the same ways to prepare for a hurricane will also help you to prepare for other disasters.

It is essential that we plan for all situations to protect yourself and your property. By planning ahead, you can save critical time when responding to a disaster or emergency.
