Emergency Preparedness Division Monitoring Atlantic Tropics

September 26, 2025
The City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division is actively monitoring several systems in the Atlantic as the 2025 hurricane season continues. Hurricane Gabrielle and Tropical Storm Humberto are both moving across the ocean, but at this time neither poses a threat to the United States.

Closer to home, a disturbance known as Invest 94L is located near Hispaniola. Forecasters give it a 90 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm near the Bahamas this weekend. Current projections show the system tracking north-northwest early next week.

For Jacksonville, there is no immediate threat. However, marine and surf zone hazards are likely early next week, and it is too soon to determine whether other local impacts may occur.

The City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division reminds residents that the peak of hurricane season is here and now is the time to make sure your household is ready. Stock a supply kit, review your family emergency plan, and know your evacuation zone. Above all, continue to stay informed by monitoring official forecasts.

The Emergency Preparedness Division will continue to provide updates as conditions evolve. Stay alert, stay prepared, and stay JaxReady.
