Local Weather Hazards & Safety Services

Join your local National Weather Service meteorologists to learn about local weather hazards and how to proactively monitor and safely respond. Local hazards including thunderstorms, tornadoes, heat and hurricanes will be addressed. Weather products will be explained and website and phone application tools will be showcased.

About Angela:

Angie graduated from Florida State University with her Bachelor’s in Meteorology in 2001 (Magna Cum Laude).  She also earned minors in Math, Physics and Computer Science. After graduation, she served as a meteorological intern at the NWS Birmingham office for 8 months before transferring to NWS Jacksonville as a Journeyman forecaster in 2002. As a Journeyman, Angie became heavily involved in outreach programs and the severe weather program. She was promoted to Lead Forecaster in 2011 and has since become heavily involved in the office’s decision support program. She serves as the office Decision Support Program Leader and is a certified Type I Incident Meteorologist so that she can provide onsite weather support to Emergency Responders across the nation during large events and after natural disasters.  Angie enjoys working with diverse customers, striving to educate them on our NWS products and services while also learning ways the National Weather Service can better meet their changing weather needs.
Angie and her family love anything outdoors.  She enjoys hiking, running, and visiting National Parks.
